The holiday season is over which means that there’s a significant number of swollen people with additional pounds around their waists out there who are having regrets and who wish that they had more self-control during the festivities. Calorie counter apps on Android have come a long way, and they now offer a lot of useful features, even the free versions of them. MyFitnessPal is one such calorie counter app for Android. It’s very popular, everybody probably knows about it, which begs the question why am I talking about it here and now.

  • Progress tracking – progress for either losing, gaining or maintaining weight can be tracked extensively. You can even write a blog to keep other people updated about your ups and downs.
  • Notifications – app will keep you notified on meal plans, updates to from the MyFitnessPal network and more.
  • These are just major features of MyFitnessPal. This calorie counter app has a lot more to offer. It’s quite easy for one to get lost inside all the different options, bells and whistles that MyFitnessPal has to offer, so be careful.

    Setup is easy, it’s basically an 8-step wizard where you go through the already mentioned questions like your current weight and diet, your height, level of activity, and more, to get some understanding of the shape that you’re in.

    Important part of setup is when you’re asked what your goals are. Based on what kind of answer you give here (weight loss, weight gain, maintaining weight) the app will calculate a meal plan made just for you.

    Once that everything is setup you can start keeping track of your daily activities (to track the number of calories burned), daily meals (to track the number of calories ingested) and that way make sure that you don’t go over the daily caloric limit calculated for you by this calorie counter app.

You get the usual, fats, carbs, proteins, vitamins, etc. As you input the type of meals and their amount that you’ve consumed the number of grams for each food group is going to be discounted accordingly.
