Even though I make it a habit of talking about free apps and programs today I’m gonna make an exception and do a tutorialview (a mix of tutorial and review 🙂 ) of Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate. As you might have guessed it from the app name, this is a commercial video converter that supports pretty much all the video formats out there, and not just that, it also has device presets that you can use to convert video for your iPad, iPhone, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, etc…..
What exactly is Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate?
So yeah what is it? You can see how the interface of Video Converter Ultimate looks like by checking out the image above. What is it? Well like we already mentioned, it’s a video converter that’s published by a company called Wondershare. Wondershare also created a whole heap of other programs, that does lots of different tasks, so make sure to check them out also.
What we’re gonna be focusing on today is their video converter. It’s available for both Windows and Mac. Machine where I tested the program runs Windows 8.1 and everything worked great. Before diving into the specifics of how to convert videos with Video Converter Ultimate, we’re gonna do a quick overview of the basic features that the program has to offer.
Main features of Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate
Video conversion – we’ll start of our list with the main functionality, video conversion. You can convert videos (AVI to MKV for example), or you can backup DVDs, it doesn’t matter what, Wondershare does it all. Multiple or batch video conversion is available.
Built-in video editor – believe it or not you get built-in video editor which lets you edit each video file individually before converting the entire file list. You can trim, crop, watermark, merge, rotate, change contrast/colors and more.
Video downloader – you might not expect it, but Wondershare also comes with a online video download support. Browser addons give you one click option for downloading videos next to pretty much every video box that you come across on websites.
Good format support -we already mentioned that format support is great. 158 video formats are supported, with new ones being added every day via updates. AVI, MP4, MKV, WMV and more. Note the 2D to 3D conversion is also supported. Codec settings can be tweaked by you manually. On top of all that you also get to setup video conversion for devices like Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii, Apple devices, Samsung devices, Motorola phones, etc. in one click using the device presets which are available.
DVD Backup and burner – if you have a large selection of DVD movies that you’d like to backup on an external drive, or if you have birthday videos that you’d like to record as a DVD, you can do both with Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate.
Lots of other cool features are available, but we didn’t mention them, for example did you know that Wondershare Video Converter also has 2D to 3D conversion support?. You’ll have to discover everything else that’s left on your own. Let’s see how difficult is it to convert videos with this video converter software.
How to convert videos with Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate
For the how to part of this “tutorialview” I decided to show you how to convert a video. Nothing too fancy, just your standard video conversion.
The first step is to load up the video files that you’d like to see converted into the converter queue. Once you’ve done that, you have to select output video format, output audio format, decide whether or not you want to add subtitles to the video, which is also supported, set video edits using the editor, etc.
Last bit of setup that you should check can be seen in the bottom left corner, the output folder location. By default converted videos are saved to your users profile “Documents” folder, but you can change that. Once that everything is setup, all that’s left for you is to click on the Convert button.
Conversion worked very fast for me, several files were converted at the same time. The fact that I have an i3 processor probably added to the swiftness of the conversion, but I’m sure even if you have older hardware you’ll be able to convert videos in no time.
Final thoughts and downloads
Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate is paid software, so the download links given down below is for a trial version. Price is a bit high, but if you’re converting a lot of files it’s well worth the investment. With Video Converter Ultimate you get several apps in one, not just a video converter, but also a powerful batch video editor which just blows my mind to be honest. Give it a try, at least the trial version and let me know what you think in comments down below.
