Bad weather is the main guilty party for a myriad of ruined weekend plans. Unless you’re always making plans for indoor activities, ;), you’ve probably had a plan or a couple of plans for a perfectly fun BBQ ruined by rain. Even though it’s not always accurate, weather forecast can be a huge help in these types of situations and 1Weather is just the thing to help you out. 1Weather is a free weather forecast app and a free weather widget all rolled up in one. It’s available for Android, hence the placement of this article in the Android section. 🙂
When you run 1Weather for the first time, if you’ve activated the Locations feature in the setup of your Android phone, you’re gonna see weather forecast reported right away. If you’re like me and the Locations feature is not activated, then you’re gonna see the location selector, see image above. Here you need to type in either city name, ZIP code, postal code or airport name for which you would like to see weather forecast reported.
Keep track of weather forecast on Android with 1Weather: free weather forecast app and a free weather widget
Fun starts as soon as you give 1Weather a location. You don’t have to limit yourself to just one location, it’s possible can keep track of weather for several of them with this free weather forecast app for Android.
You start by seeing the forecast for the current day first. It goes without saying, but I’m gonna say it anyway :P, that you need an active Internet connection in order for the weather forecast to work.
Notice the tabs in the bottom left corner? By switching between them, either by tapping on them directly or swiping to the left, you can access extended weather forecast information. Image above shows the usual 5 day forecast.
Swipe one more time to the left, and you’re on the third tab, which gives you the probability of precipitation diagram. It too can cover hourly or extended periods of time, just like the actual weather forecast report does.
There’s a lot of other fun weather reports and settings that you get, but for the purposes of this review, we’re gonna move on to the weather widget, or should I say weather widgets, because you get tons of them, as you can see from the screenshot above. Widgets range from small ones with only the basic information to more complex one which give extended 5 day forecast and even include Google search.
The last screenshot that I’m gonna share is an image of the largest weather widget that this free weather forecast app comes with. It takes up the better part of the screen and like I already mentioned, it even comes with a Google search toolbar included by default. You can easily add other types of widgets, they are added the usual way, by swiping to the Widgets section of the menu and dragging and dropping them onto the screen.
