Few days ago I talked about how you can change your WordPress sidebar so that it floats, in other words that it automatically scrolls as the user is moving through the page. Another very useful thing that you might want to see floating as the user reads the page are social media sharing buttons. WP Socializer is a plugin for WordPress that adds floating social media sharing buttons to your blog.
Now you can’t see WP Socializer in action on this site because in the mean time I found AddThis Smart Layers which are better if you ask me, but you can see this free floating social media sharing buttons plugin on the screenshot above. Plugin will automatically find the edge of your blog and add the usual social media sharing buttons that you can see on websites to it. WP Socializer also adds social sharing buttons at the bottom of the post, or at the top of the post, depending on how you configure it.
Plugin settings allow you to configure a lot of different aspects of this floating social media sharing buttons plugin. You can change and configure which buttons are gonna be shown at the top, which ones at the bottom of blog posts (but these are optional).
Screenshot above shows us config of the “floating” section of WP Socializer. Here you can turn on the floating social media buttons, select which buttons are gonna be showed, select either left or right side where they are gonna be showed, and so on.
Once you’re done with the config, simply save settings and you should see a floating social media sharing buttons on your WordPress blog. Now like I already mentioned I’m actually using AddThis Smart Layers, which is a new feature offered by AddThis, but if you’re not a fan of AddThis, then WP Socializer is just the thing you need.
