Warping is a neat effect which doesn’t necessarily have to be applied to text only, but in this tutorial we’re gonna show you one of the ways how you can warp text using GIMP.
Image above shows us an example of what we’re gonna do. How the text is gonna be warped, how it’s gonna look like depends entirely up to you. We used the Cage Transform tool for the text warping and one of the things that’s great about this tool is that it allows you to make all kinds of distortions to shapes on the image that you’re editing. Without further ado, here’s how you can warp text using GIMP.
Video is much more fun than words and steps, so we decided to create one instead. Hopefully you’ll find it helpful. One of the things that weren’t mentioned in the video is that when you create the warped effect, when you setup the distortions using the Cage Transform tool, you’ll need to hit Enter to actually apply them.
Another thing that you might notice is that after hitting Enter, after the text is warped, you’ll see leftovers where the text was before remain. Check out the example above how it looked like on our image. These can be easily removed using the Eraser tool, so it’s not that big of a deal. Try this tutorial yourself and like the video says, tell us what you think in the comment section down below.
